What a few weeks…..

While its only been 3 full weeks since we opened our doors to the public, we have certainly seen plenty of action both on and off the track. With over 1,000 people coming to the Community Open Day, tenants moving into their office space and hosting Elite Track Nationals its certainly busy a busy 3 weeks.

Its great to see so many school children on the track in our 4-6pm slots. A majority of these school children have never seen a velodrome before let alone ride on one. You can see their initial fear but the huge smiles on the kids faces when their hour has finished is priceless.

Our Have A Go sessions are popular with people who have never been on a track bike or a track, coming and having a go! Alot are then coming back for further training and releasing how much fun track cycling can be.

Of course, we haven’t quite finished with our opening celebrations and we are now looking forward to our Grand Opening on 12th April and not only welcoming the community, sponsors, key stakeholders, riders and New Zealand dignitary but also excited about Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Wills & Kate) coming to officially open the Avantidrome.

This blog will aim to provide daily updates and also showcase some of the groups and personalities using the Avantidrome.
