Thursday 19th March:
COVID-19 TEST IS NEGATIVE; AVANTIDROME FACILITY TO RE-OPEN ON MONDAY
On Tuesday we were advised that a visitor to the Avantidrome had developed flu-like symptoms. The individual was isolated and subsequently tested for Covid-19. We promptly closed the facility, and advised our users and wider community of the potential risk. A precautionary deep clean of the was undertaken according to Ministry of Health guidelines.
We have now received confirmation from High Performance Sport New Zealand of a negative test result. The individual has not contracted COVID-19.
Over the next few days the Avantidrome will be working with partners Cycling New Zealand and High Performance Sport New Zealand to strengthen protocols to enhance health and wellbeing standards across our facility for all users.
The Avantidrome will re-open on Monday.
Tuesday 17th March:
The Avantidrome will be closed until further notice due to concerns that someone displaying symptoms as well as potential exposure to Covid-19 was within the facility on 17 March.
That person had recently returned from overseas and is being tested for Covid-19. The results are not yet known. The Home of Cycling Charitable Trust that operates the Avantidrome has taken the precautionary measure to close. Staff of the Trust and all tenants will work from home and a deep clean will be undertaken of the facility.
