January 2021 School Holiday Sessions

This school holidays we’ll be running our popular holiday sessions alongside some brand new and exciting classes that introduce riders to mechanics, the gym, nutrition and gives them a chance to sit down with an HP rider!

A minimum of 5 riders is required to run each session.

Please note: Children must be 135 m in height and at least 9 years old to ride the track at the Avantidrome.

 


Spaces are limited and booking is essential.

Junior Learn to Ride

When:

  • Monday 25th – Friday 29th January 4pm-5:30pm

What: Our Learn to Ride programme is where kids start their track cycling journey. Here they will be coached towards becoming competent to ride our track.

Cost: $90 per person for the week

Who for: Only for non-accredited kids

Please Note:

  1. Maximum number of riders = 15
  2. Book ahead to avoid disappointment
  3. Ensure riders are wearing tops that cover their shoulders, singlets are not permitted
  4. Bike and helmet supplied

Please Bring:

  • T-shirt or top that has sleeves which cover your shoulders (no singlets please)
  • Comfortable shorts or tights. Bike pants are a good idea if you have them, but not required
  • Covered shoes, suitable for riding
  • Water bottle (yes, it is thirsty work!)
  • Please remove jewellery and watches before you take to the track

 


Track and Mechanics (3hrs) 

When:

  • Monday the 25th of January 9am-12pm

What:The Track and Mechanics session is a great way to kick off the week. You will begin your day at the Avantidrome with a fun coached session that will get you back on the boards, and develop your skills and fitness, at your pace. Following this we will have a mechanic come in and teach you some important and practical bike maintenance skills that you will surely find useful in the future.

Who for: Accredited kids only.

Cost: $30 per person per session. This is a casual sessions and does not require a membership.

Track and Gym (2hr) 

When:

  • Tuesday the 26th of January 10am-12pm

What: The Track and Gym session will get you more familiar with a typical ‘day-in-the-life’ of High Performance rider. You will start the day with a coached training session that will work on speed and specific techniques. You will then move on with our experienced gym coach to the Life Fitness Zone. This fitness class is designed for you to learn how to strengthen and increase fitness, in a safe and fun way.

Cost: $30 per person, per session. This is a casual sessions and does not require a membership.

Who for: Accredited kids only.

Track and Chat with an HP Rider (2hrs)

When:

  • Wednesday the 27th of January 10am-12pm

What: The Track and Chat, with a High Performance rider, session will be fun and insightful. For the first part of the day you will be coached by a HP rider, this session is aimed at improving your track skills and racing tactics. Afterwards you will get the chance to sit back and enjoy an interesting talk with the athlete. You will get to know a lot about them such as how they started, reaching goals, and what they have to overcome / their hardest challenges etcetera. If you have any specific questions such as race tactics or nutrition for example you are more than welcome to ask them at the end of the session.

Who for: Accredited kids only.

Cost: $30 per person, per session. This is a casual sessions and does not require a membership.

School of Track (2hrs)

When:

  • Thursday the 28th of January 10am-12pm

What: The School of Track will, without a doubt, be an awesome day. The coached training session will be with an HP rider, here we will be running races, games and exercises on and off the track (so please remember to bring your sneakers also). You will enjoy learning new skills and improve your overall track knowledge and experience while having fun with a great group of people. This is going to be epic!

Cost: $30 per person, per session. This is a casual sessions and does not require a membership.

Who for: Accredited kids only.

Fueling the Temple (2hrs)

When:

  • Friday the 29th of January 9am-11am

What: If you are wanting a unique experience both practical and insightful regarding nutrition, come and join our Fuelling the Temple session. Learn the basics on how to fuel your temple efficiently and effectively, and get your hands messy as you learn how to make ride food such as muesli bars and rice cakes, the Euro way. You will be joined by a High Performance athlete that will run through practice and easy ideas regarding how to fuel and hydrate before, during and after your ride, and also how to also have a good balance off the bike.

Disclaimer: Please note that if your child has any allergies and / or intolerances please be aware that we will be using most, if not all of the list of ingredients below to make food bars.

  • Peanut butter, banana, maple / golden syrup, mixed seeds, brown sugar, oats, raisins, rice crispy’s, honey, sea salt, nuts, dark chocolate, vanilla extract, coconut oil, dates, cocoa powder, butter.

Cost: $40 per person, per session. This is a casual sessions and does not require a membership.

Who for: Anyone U18 is able to attend this session
